TOURIST IN MY OWN HOME TOWN
It took me a couple of days before I felt comfortable carrying
my main camera around with me. It did not seem right initially to feel so much
like a tourist when in my own home town.
On Friday I showed Cindy the St.
Pancras renovation project. We then went to the Tate Modern for a short visit
via St. Paul’s Cathedral and Millennium Bridge.

In Borough Market we partook of
some fish ‘n chips:

Later that evening we went to out to celebrate Spencer’s
birthday at a party at his West End flat. It was a glorious event with
fascinating people including some that I had not seen for 5, 10, or even 40
years! I am not used to getting to bed at 4 am.
On Saturday we met my friend Jonathan and walked along a
part of the South Bank. This is a walk that I always recommend to people who
are visiting London. Starting from Westminster, the Abbey, and the Houses of
Parliament, across Westminster Bridge and then heading east you will pass
street entertainers, art galleries, theaters, exhibitions, food stands, shops,
and crowds of other people enjoying the promenade.

You will pass the RoyalFestival Hall, the Tate Modern, the Globe Theatre, covered markets, the GoldenHind, pubs where Dickens and Sir Christopher Wren hung out (not together
though), and end up at Tower Bridge. We only did part of this walk before
taking a boat which circled round and returned us to Westminster. A new view along the way is the Shard, the tallest building in the European Community and just opened this year.
Saturday night took us to a lovely birthday dinner for
Spencer along with his wife Chrissie. We went to a lovely little restaurant,
Andrew Edmunds in Soho. Great food, great company!
