We wandered around town for a while and then drove into Keswick where we had

My brother lives in Cockermouth in the Lake District. This town is
famous as the birthplace of the poet William Wordsworth. The town lies at the confluence
of the Cocker and Derwent rivers. Cocker spaniels originate from this area. A
few years ago there was a flood of biblical proportions with waters speeding
down the main street at depths of up to eight feet. The town was devastated and
has been undergoing a revitalization.
We drove around the Lake District, walked in the hills,
visited a slate mine, and saw an ancient Viking village. We met up with Alan’s
partner Moira each evening. On Tuesday night we went to a wonderful vegetarian
restaurant.

On Wednesday, Alan’s son Owen came to town and it was a pure
joy to spend time with my nephew whom I have seen very little of. He is a
wonderful, intelligent talented young man who plays guitar beautifully.

We
jammed for a while and then we listened as he went through a small portion of
his repertoire of jazz, Django, flamenco, blues and even some Beatles.
It has been such a wonderful opportunity to spend
warm, loving time with my family in England: Alan and Moira, Owen, and of
course with Cindy.
Great photo of the four of you. Brothers with the same sparkle in the eyes. Nice to hear about your nephew, too.
ReplyDeleteWe will have a granddaughter any hour now. Neva is in Chicago. Spring has sprung and life keeps happening.
If your granddaughter is born on the second it will be the same day as my friend Spencer and if on the third she will share a birthday with Christopher. It doesn't sound like it will take til the fourth but that's my mother's birthday
